Commentary on The Book of the Kings of Truth (Hâshieh bar Haqq-ol Haqqâieq) is a postscript by Ostad Elahi for The Book of the Kings of Truth, a mystical epic written by his father Haj Nemat around 1912. This poem of 15,000 verses was composed over the course of some forty days. Ostad Elahi recounts how his father was in a state of powerful inspiration as he paced across the room and dictated the verses one after the other while Ostad quickly transcribed them.
The Book of the Kings of Truth relays the spiritual history of the world and presents an account of the successive manifestations of the Divine Essence and the work of the divine messengers who come in each era to guide humanity. In the last section of the book, the author reveals the circumstances of his own spiritual calling.
In his commentary, Ostad Elahi sheds new light on his father’s mystical epic by addressing and resolving several important issues regarding the determination of places and dates, the historical accuracy of events, the concept of divine manifestation, as well as the paradoxes that seem to appear throughout the narrative. Overall, this analysis establishes that The Book of the Kings of Truth is not a compilation of legends, but rather an account of well-founded spiritual realities.
